“Me and my sister popped in for a roll and coffee. Food was so fresh and hot and was absolutely delicious! Lovely staff as well, next time we’re in Edinburgh we’ll definitely be back. Also the new pumpkin spice syrup was lovely ☺️”
“Best meal I had in Edinburgh. The menu was so tempting I had to have three courses — at lunch. The server was wonderful too, with her excellent recommendations and general welcoming vibe.”
“My husband & I received a recommendation from our Airbnb host to eat here. Big compliments to the chef(s)! What a delightful dining experience. It’s a quaint and minimalistic bistro, and it feels quite intimate. We went with 2 courses, starting with the haggis canapé, then the salmon tartlet and lettuce as our starters. For our mains, the chicken and fish. I had a nice glass of Austrian Riesling. I was very pleased and even more so with the price, especially for such quality food. I will absolutely be returning when I’m back in Edinburgh.”
“Absolute pleasure dining here. Great service, delicious food. I felt so calm and relaxed. Paul and other servers were lovely. The cod, oysters, and apple tarte were my favorites.”
“Lunch fabulous at Café Marlayne (76 Thistle Street) which I can highly recommend! I started with PATE DE POISSON (Arbroath smokie pate, horseradish, creamy cheese) and then PITHIVIERS DE LAPIN (Rabbit, leek and aged cheddar in butter puff pastry with grain mustard sauce) my main. Excellent service, excellent food!”
“We had the most exquisite meal here; family friendly too! They catered for our six year old son by frying a fillet of cod and serving with triple cooked chips. He absolutely loved it. Somehow they manage to be extremely warm, friendly, professional and formal at the same time. We would honestly come back every night if we could.”
“Bellfield Brewery, you have my heart. The atmosphere was already lovely, but we happened to visit on quiz night, which made it even more fun and lively. The beer selection was great, the staff were absolutely lovely, and the whole vibe was just spot on. When we went, there was a guest kitchen running — a burger place — and we tried the Oklahoma Burger. It was so good I couldn’t resist getting a second one! Out of the four nights we spent in Edinburgh, we dedicated one to Bellfield, and we’re so glad we did. It was one of the most memorable evenings of the trip. Next time I’m in Edinburgh, this will be right at the top of my list to revisit.”
“A real hidden gem! (Quite literally hidden haha, the restaurant is on the lower ground floor so make sure you look for the sign of the restaurant around the corner). Amazing food and attention to detail. Taste, presentation, and creativity are all top tier. Would recommend everything we had, including the lamb main (not pictured). Excellent service, staff were friendly and attentive, and the warm coat room is a very nice touch. We felt cozy and comfortable. Definitely the best meal I’ve had in Edinburgh!”
“A cherished independent cinema that retains its original 1930s Art Deco character. With its single screen, classic auditorium, and unique "Moby Dick" whale feature, it offers an authentic, nostalgic film-going experience distinct from modern multiplexes, emphasizing atmosphere and community.”
“Good food, guick service, a little too hot in the restaurant but overall very nice, complements to the chef and Kasia who served me.”

“Love this spot, some of the best sandwiches and bread I’ve had (Coming from a Dutch person). Great service and good prices. When I wake up in the morning the first thing I think of is walking over to Polentoni.”
“As a Greek that lives abroad I was extremely impressed with the variety of products this place has. I am not talking only for the good that they bake but you can find literally anything from Greece. I was just amazed. We got breakfast from there and of course a freddo espresso was a must to accompany our pastries. Everything was very tasty! I highly recommend you to visit this place and try all the Greek goods they have!”
“What a true gem amongst so many similarly looking establishments. Just behind the Usher Hall, perfectly located for a pre-theatre bite to eat. Lovely interior full of Persian motives. Fantastic staff members, knowing what a very good customer service is without being intrusive and overwhelming. Beautifully appointed table with lovely crockery and cutlery. Food looking so delicious you can't wait to start. Everything prepared fresh from good ingredients. No GMO, emulsifiers etc. Just pure not artificially improved food full of fresh herbs, spices and organic toppings. Good wine list. Prices won't brake a bank (by latest standards). Highly recommend!”
“I haven’t had a home-cook Pho for a long time and it’s so heart warming to taste something that delicious - totally recommend and would come back again and again!”
“Went to the cafe twice— it was that good. The pancakes were to die for for breakfast. Burger I had was very tasty, and not at all dry. Coffee and tea served were both astounding, and the full breakfast I had on my second visit was very delicious. To top it all, the service was top-notch. They were accommodating and were engaging with us kindly. A must visit if you’re around Royal Mile!”
“Why did it take me so long to come here? Food! Service and atmosphere all on point! Very enjoyable night! Can’t wait to come back and work our way through the menu!! Great job!”
“The starters are very delicious, the food was scrumptious, although the chicken biriyani was okayish here, could have been better. The mango lassi is a must try!”
“Very lovely little restaurant, with excellent staff, a wonderful ambience and beautiful food. We had the 3 course dinner, sitting by the kitchen bar, which was very enjoyable watching the chefs prepare our food. Between the two of us, we were able to try each meat/seafood option, with the monkfish probably as our favourite. Would highly recommend as a special experience.”
“My lovely and I went in for dinner and the chef claimed they are famous for the angus lasagna so there we went. Oh my. I believe the chef has created a new religion based on the dish. Spectacular! The service was marvelous and elegant for a small place - big stature. Our first Scottish restaurant meal was sooo memorable.”
“Won't be everybody's cup of tea 'cos slightly quirky. A wonderful combination of food drink and eccentricities. Less than £100 with a good tip & ½l of wine. Moussaka and Beef with aubergine where both fantastic. "Very nice Orange Cake" says the wife Both enjoyed the complementry ouzo & 'amuse' to start too. A must return I my book”
“What a great, tasty sandwhich. Here I was expecting it to be just another chicken thigh, deep fried and slapped in between breads, boy was I soo wrong. The chicken thigh is fried perfectly with none of the mushiness that dark meat usually taste. The chicken is marinated with Indian(?) sauce which is a first for me, and honestly, it's amazing!! Another shout out is the foccacia they uses, it's huge but not so dense and hard as to make you feel overtly full afterwards. The only thing I wish is that they added mustard seed sauce to add some tanginess into the fried chicken but I am just too finicky.”
“We came up to Edinburgh from London in April for a friend’s 50th and came here on our last day for breakfast and it did not disappoint A beautiful place with amazing food and excellent service. My friend said that the haggis here was the best she’d ever tasted. It was my first time trying haggis and it was delicious as was everything else on my plate including the black pudding which I don’t usually enjoy. Going here was an excellent start to our last day in beautiful Edinburgh.”
“Best brewery in the UK! Highly recommend the Edinburgh Gold and haven’t tried a brew I didn’t like from here! Wide selection, merchandise, food, and lots of gluten free beers.”
“The whole visit was amazing. The best poached eggs ever, very fast service, my Dad's best ever hot chocolate, and he's 89. I cannot fault a single thing here. My Dad's trip to Kirkcaldy was perfect. Thank you.”
“We ate lunch today Saturday 12th July at The Balerno Inn for my mother's 87th birthday. We were a mixed age group of 8 and there was something for each of us. The food was absolutely delicious, we really couldn't fault it in any way. Service was attentive in all the right ways. There is a lovely little playground so our grandson of 16months was entertained there until his food was ready. Everyone was so friendly as well. I would highly recommend this place for all occasions.”
“Best Italian pizza in Scotland!!! Friendly staff too. My family and I ate here 3 times in 10 nights. Highly recommend!!!”
“Great experience, with enthusiastic and attentive staff. Fantastic food and an exciting location and company ethos! The Autumn Feating Session was amazing and I don't think I've ever seen such happy staff doing a great job. They've got a lot of passion and it seeps through.”
“Absolutely lovely. My food was great and everything else I saw come out I also wanted as it looked amazing. Scrambled egg on "toast" (was actually a small baguette style bread) was the best Ive ever had. Unique and delicious. Definitely be coming again many more times.”
“Words can’t describe how wonderful this artsy boutique style hotel is! Just returned home after spending five fabulous nights at this beautiful gem of a hotel. Nothing has been overlooked, from the decor, design, furnishings, artwork - and on top if it all, a lovely whisky tasting bar/lounge that was truly elegant. The staff was extremely attentive and made sure that everything was perfect for us from the moment we arrived until our departure (inclusive of booking taxis and making hotel reservations). Will definitely be booking another stay at 24 Royal Terrace if given the opportunity to visit Edinburgh again.”
