“Staff were very friendly. Bag storage was very reasonable price compared to other options. Rooms are small yes, but went for the window view and had a great view of the castle.”
“Edlets was the best company I encountered when looking for a place to stay n Edinburgh. Very professional, responsive and knowledgable. Would definitely recommend them.”
“I’m a uni student studying in London, on a two-day solo trip to Edinburgh. I originally booked a 4-bed dorm in a hostel for two nights (£15 a night), but had to cancel the second night—there was someone coughing loudly, another person praying at 5 AM, and the lockers didn’t lock. I ended up booking this hotel last minute the next morning (£45 a night). I was so pleasantly surprised and comfy after checking in! I’d been dreading it because of the bad Google reviews, especially since I got the cheapest basement room with no windows. But it was quiet, spotlessly clean, and the front desk staff were really helpful. First big plus: 24-hour reception. I looked at other places around the same price, but they were all Airbnbs/homestays that needed a confirmed check-in time upfront. As a solo traveler, I had no idea what time I’d roll in, so 24-hour reception was a total lifesaver. Second win: location. It’s right near the Water of Leith Weir, and only 2km from the Castle—an easy 30-minute walk for me. Half the walk’s through leafy residential areas with loads of churches, the other half along busy roads leading to Princes Street. Getting to see two totally different vibes on my way back to the hotel was such a nice touch. All in all, even the cheapest room here is miles better than the hostel. 100% a 5-star rating from me!”
“When I went i got given a pretty acceptable but not fantastic flat white. The staff were friendly. To my suprise the chef came out the front and began blowing up a very thick ballon, it began to consume the whole room! I got pushed against the wall by the force of the inflation what a breath this fella had. I thank god every third and a half day that I finshed my coffee before this supernatural event. Extremely unique experience would ask staff if it is ballon day before going if elderly or sick”
“Amazing food and even better service!! I got a slow roasted beef sandwich with cheese and salsa and it was SO good. I can’t have eggs, so thought I’d be limited by the menu but the owner was so helpful and just genuinely friendly. He explained the options (despite most things containing eggs) and even chatted me through where each ingredient comes from locally. The crisps were freshly fried (still warm!) and delicious and my mouth is still watering thinking about the sandwich. The beef was perfection, bread fresh, soft and warm and salsa was delicious with a very mild sauce. All together the best unexpected lunch and coffee!”
“We had a brilliant time! Tom was quick to respond to emails beforehand, and very welcoming. The hostel itself was a lovely space with great atmosphere (including record player, pool table and lots of twinkly lights). Thank you very much! - Everyone at the Edinburgh University Folk Society”
“Absolutely stunning food with such a gorgeous and varied menu that it was difficult to decide what to have! The service is always second to none, with wonderful ambiance and beautiful attention to detail in decor. My only criticism is that the restaurant isn't entirely vegan, otherwise I would go more often!”
“Amazing cafe with delicious food and fantastic big yummy coffee! We had latte and long black for coffee and they were great coffees, my husband had a second cup after food! I had beef chimichanga and he had vegan sandwiches which we both absolutely love! My beef roll was super yummy and very generous in size! Definitely a recommended dish! Lovely cafe and even more friendly staff!!!”
“We loved this place. Great service and atmosphere. I loved how well one of the owners treated us and others. There was another customer there who had a hard time speaking and the owner was so patient with him. Then we got the food back to our place and it was really good with lots of flavor.”
“I stumbled across BaGet Stuffed around 6 months ago and realised I’d been missing out. Big time. Ingredients are fresh, hygiene is top notch, and I was immediately captivated by the creative sandwich names like “Pablo Escobar” and “Smoking Greek”, each one matching its own quirky filling combo. Even their drinks have personality. They do amazing coffee, and the fridge drink selection is exclusive. Jarritos from Mexico, the fridge popping with colour… it has that sweet shop nostalgia to it. The atmosphere? It’s bustling with good vibes and warm radiance. Proper community feel between staff and customers. My current go-to is the Bossman with slight customisation, and I’ll warn you now: it’s addictive. If you want to pack in some extra calories, I highly recommend my custom “Half-Bossman, Half-Mexican Cartel” protein box. It hits the spot every time.”
“Rooms are nice, exquisite and very comfortable. I would say this is affordable luxury. All of the staff are very pleasant and polite. They always want to help, no matter what. Not forgetting that breakfast is free and really nice. You can move around the ship for some sight seeing and we also got two free tickets to see the Britannia Yatch (Tickets can be transferred or used at anytime). The location is quiet. It was indeed a floating experience”
“What an incredible stay at Ocean Mist. I could easily write several pages, but I won’t spoil too much for others — all I can say is wow. From the moment you step aboard you’re greeted by friendly, smart staff. The décor is second to none; every meticulous detail is either hand-crafted or clearly created with real thought. The cabins are pristine, and everything you could possibly need is there. Even the hand-stamped toilet rolls, folded into little sailboats, were a magnificent touch. Evening drinks on the bridge were a highlight, with some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had and attentive staff who genuinely went the extra mile. Breakfast was unreal — the cheese and bacon bread especially went down a treat. I was fascinated by the history, so I spent some time looking through the photo books and learning the story behind the vessel, and I’m so glad I did. At breakfast I recognised a familiar face, and realised it was the owner’s son. Being part of the project, he took the time to talk with us — a humbling, memorable experience. William is a credit to his family: bright, intelligent and passionate. It was refreshing to see someone so invested in both the heritage and the guest experience. Mr Pedley, you should be incredibly proud of what you’ve achieved. To Alan and Nadia — your son William is a testament to your hard work and values. I can’t wait to recommend Ocean Mist to my clients, and I’m excited to see your future projects. Thank you for the hospitality and the unforgettable experience. We will be back.”
“Very cute little bakery, worth the trip out to visit if you’re gluten free. Very affordable but kind of small portions if you’re really hungry. Waiter was very kind and attentive.”
“We had a lovely family lunch with my 94 year old mother who needs a wheelchair. It was really easy for her and the service was fantastic and they made it very pleasurable. The food was excellent as was the wine. Maybe the plates could have been a wee bit warmer but the food was delicious. Definitely will go back.”
“One of those incredible, rare, finds. Service was exceptional, the vines immaculate, but the real star was the food. Easily, by far the best falafel I have ever had. Utterly recommended, and I will be back!”
“Delightful place; and for us, only steps away from our B&B. Came highly recommended by our B&B hosts at 23 Mayfield. Attentive service, kind staff, lovely presentation as shown in our photos, and mouth watering flavors. We would definitely go back if in the area again!”
“We are so blessed to have this fantastic restaurant on our doorstep. Every dish is made with fresh ingredients, the utmost skill and of course with love. I wasn’t overly familiar with Cretan cuisine, but now I am utterly hooked! My favourite is the Gigantes. It’s funny how there are some dishes that are universally nostalgic and comforting. The whole team are fabulous and so accommodating and friendly; you really feel as though you are dining in a friend’s home. I’d go here for a celebration or just a casual romantic dinner, so great is the hospitality and food. Can’t wait to go again soon.”
“Came to Scotland for Holiday and had 2 meals here, breakfast and lunch. Met the owner, Paula, the first time we came in & she was nothing but welcoming. Even gave me a hug as she noticed I was absolutely freezing..She treated us like family. Her staff both times, were incredibly kind, service was fast and food was hot & homemade. Great menu with fresh pastries. HIGHLY recommend for anyone to stop in for a cozy meal, who wants to feel at home. Posted below is their homemade macaroni and cheese with bacon and chips, as well as their Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon & flat white coffee..Also very accommodating for reservations. You can find a spot on their website to make s reservation & Paula responded to my inquiry quickly..We were 15 minutes late due to traffic from Glasgow but the staff seemed incredibly happy to still greet/serve us.”
“Small dinner, but lots on menu, low prices and delicious food. Chef was really nice and kind. They offer many kinds of burgers, pizzas, kebabs and more. All fresh and really good and big portions.”
“Excellent Greek patisserie to have with coffee while visiting friends. All delicious, great variety, friendly service and welcoming staff!”
“I absolutely love this salon. Everyone is so warm and welcoming, and every service I’ve had has been flawless. The staff’s attention to detail is exceptional, and I honestly can’t recommend this place highly enough. The late opening hours are a fantastic bonus, too!”
“Had a wonderful experience at Khartoum Cafe. The owner was friendly, attentive and created a lovely atmosphere. The food itself was delicious: so flavourful and balanced. I especially loved the Salata Aswad. Been past this place so many times and kicking myself it’s taken me so long to go in but now I have, I will definitely be back.”
“First time here. Absolutely delicious. I’d recommend.”
“This has to be the best gyros I’ve had in the UK. I had the halloumi gyros which was so well done with genuinely perfectly cooked crisps. So well priced and the service was second to none. So friendly and welcoming!”
“What a fantastic find! My son and I were passing through Falkirk and needed dinner, not only did we call and reserve a table an hour before the restaurant was due to close, but then we arrived with 15 minutes of calling, thinking we would only be able to grab a quick main course before it closed. At first we couldn't see the restaurant, as we were expecting a frontage, like its neighbours. Instead, there is a doorway between a burger joint and a barbers. We went upstairs and it felt like we were having dinner at someone's apartment. We were made to feel as welcome as a regular guest, and at no point did we feel like we needed to hurry up. Instead the owner came and chatted to us about our trip, and the sort of classic car we had parked outside. The food! Oh my, this really was a treat. It is just a shame that this place is around 450 miles from where I live, otherwise I would be a regular!”
“Just purchased a breakfast box sitting eating it and I must say it's probably the best I've have in over 30 years of truck driving all over the country, generous portion perfectly cooked, and a fair price too, vast menu and if I'm by this way again I'll definitely be stopping again.....”
“Excellent tap room which serves food. There is also a beer shop on site which also sells merchandise. Seating inside and out and very quick service on the food. Plenty of parking available. You can book a table if busy but note this is only for 3 hours. We did not book and we were fine even though plenty of people in.”
“Fantastic store with lovely staff, all extremely knowledjable and with amazing recomendations. My only problem is that since I moved flats I cannot visit as often as I would like to ”
“The Art and Spirituality Centre is a wonderful space to hold classes and workshops. I have hosted several sessions in the centre and it is always a pleasure to teach there. Giada, the owner, is very welcoming and friendly she is always happy to help with any questions that I have had. The space is very spacious and adaptable for all types of classes and events. Its location is accessible to get to from different areas across the city. As well as being an accessible location, it is accessible for those with disabilities as it's entrance is on street level and the centre is across one floor. I would highly recommend visiting the centre for classes and to hire for your events.”
