“Quirky and fun! The decor is all kinds of classic English history with a hearty splash of irreverence, split across a couple buildings that feel like homes rather than a hotel. The room itself was small, but that suited me perfectly — great for a solo traveller. Only thing to note is I’m somewhat tall for a woman and on that bed I just about could touch my toes to the window sill while my head was by the headboard. I thought it was quite fun but taller people might want to take note. Everything was neat and clean, and the bed was comfortable. The walls are a little thin, like in any old house, so you can hear some bustling in the morning, but I personally found that endearing. The staff were very kind and friendly, and even introduced me to the hotel cat, Teddy! The location is great, just a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of town. I come through York frequently so I can say with certainty and delight that I’ll be staying here again! Thanks again to the staff for a lovely experience.”

“Fantastically spacious apartment in a great location in Leeds City Centre. We were lucky enough to be allocated a 2 bedroom apartment with a huge balcony and loads of natural light in the living area though large windows on all the outside walls. Bathroom and bedrooms all clean and looked after, decent Wi-Fi, Smart TV. Was great to have something that felt like home rather than a hotel room for a few nights. Very minor issue getting into the locked gate but that was more of an us problem than the accommodation. Would be delighted to stay again.”

“Had so many repairs done to the highest quality. I bought an antique ring for my husband which needed sizing up quite a few sizes .they did an amazing job .I wouldn't think of going anywhere else.”

“We had our small post wedding celebration here in The Courtyard. We stayed the night before and the evening of our wedding. The entire staff, from Event management as my first contact, to reception staff and the breakfast greeting was superb. However, a very special mention must go to Yontshi, who made sure we enjoyed our tasting menu the night before and took charge of our reception on the Saturday. She made us feel like we were the most important people in her world. Thank you Mr & Mrs Miles Walker”

“Lovely big, clean rooms with an extremely friendly host. Delicious cooked breakfast every morning. The entrance is right for a large car, but doable. The village nearby has several restaurants and pubs for food as well as two small grocery stores for food.”

“Great location and atmosphere! We were here for a family birthday (party of 7) on a busy Sunday. Food was not only more than great but served altogether in a timely manner. Everyone including the kids enjoyed there food with enough choice to suit everyone. Staff were attentive and polite. Overall great experience!”

“From booking to the end of my stay at courtyard mews I was dealt in a friendly yet very professional way. All our needs were met and Harry the owner was on call at any point . The apartments was exceptionally clean and had everything you would need and again if we found we needed anything in addition I knew Harry was on the end of the phone ready to assist. 100% customer relations and service 100% clean, well presented and comfortable modern apartment. I would highly recommend and should I need to let again in the near future this is certainly where I will stay again ! “Excellently located near to both the railway station and city centre. A lovely warm reception was given and our room was just what was needed. Very clean, comfy bed, fridge & refreshments and plenty of sockets to charge the gadgets! A lovely 5 minute walk along the river and you’re in the city.”

Staff - friendly and super efficient, a pleasure to see a team working so well on a very busy breakfast shift - much better than many large corporate chain hotels we have stayed in. Breakfast - decent breakfast with a good range of options. Room - good size, very clean and warm. Parking - very reasonable price for parking in York. Stay again - definitely. Value - very good. Recommend - absolutely. Overall - spot on, far better than many places we've stayed in.”

“A fantastic afternoon spent walking around the grounds, the woods and the gardens before strolling around the Wildlife Park which has a great variety of animals in spacious enclosures. Rounded off with a visit to the House and taking in the history and artefacts of a very well maintained manor. Lovely!”

“From the warm greeting at the front gate and the sight of that big red bow on the entry arch, I knew I was in for a special treat at Harewood House for their Christmas display. I started with a walk around the grounds and loved the spectacular view of the house from the field near the bottom cafe. I enjoyed a walk around the lake and was enthralled by the walled garden and its sheer size, even if the gardens were mostly fallow. The Stupa is something to see and behold, as is the story behind the erection of it. Finally, it was time to enter the house and to see the Christmas decorations and room displays in all their unadulterated glory! No detail was left untold and the sights and sounds were truly wonderful. Sumptuous is one word that comes to mind when trying to describe the depth and beauty of each and every room. But just as wonderful as the displays was the warmth and enthusiasm of the volunteers who were there. They helped explain many of the details and were experts at taking photos for me! Be sure to step out on the lovely terrace garden beside the cafe in the house for beautiful views of the grounds. I had the most wonderful time at Harewood House and would strongly recommend visiting it not only at Christmas, but any time of the year.”

“We had our wedding here on Saturday. We were lucky with the weather but fantastic location and helpful, hard working staff. You are not tied to any contractors but can use whoever you want. Good value for wedding venue.”

“My partner and I did takeaway the other night and were blown away! The owner was so lovely when we picked the food up, shaking our hands. And then the food… wow! The Tandoori butter chicken and Korahi fish were both so flavourful and devoured very quickly. Would recommend this place so highly.”

“We arranged a special 90th birthday party/meal with 40 guests. The girls serving the food were absolutely fantastic and brilliant at their job. Always with a welcoming smile and happy to help with anything. Food was delicious and large portions too. The restaurant has been decorated well and is very inviting.”

“Wow. This was our first visit and won't be our last! The restaurant is beautiful, the staff are amazing and the food was perfect. We visited as two adults and two kids and the staff were fantastic with the kids, making them laugh and including them in the ordering process. The portions were extremely generous and every bring was fresh, hot and full of flavour. There honestly isn't a bad thing to say about this place, even the toilets are pretty!!”

“I had a great stay at this modern and stylish hotel. My double room was well equipped with a Nespresso machine (with four pods), plenty of coffee sachets, and a good selection of teas. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, and I loved the clever touch of the TV hidden behind a sliding piece of artwork. The large windows let in loads of natural light, and the room controls made it easy to adjust the temperature and fan settings. The shower was another highlight — a spacious, low-level shower enclosure with both a rainfall and handheld shower. Water pressure and temperature were excellent. The separate sink and worktop merged just to the side of the bed area was a nice feature. Breakfast was stacked full of self serve continental options as well as orderabke cooked options including a full English, priced at £25 for adults, but it was included with my stay, which made it great value — and it was absolutely delicious. All the staff were friendly and very helpful throughout my stay. The hotel overall is clean, bright, and modern, with a welcoming bar area that’s perfect for relaxing. A great stay”

“Great apartment. Perfect for a couple of days away! Clean and well presented. Bed was really comfortable. Walking distance to York center. Only slight negative was it does get hot on the warmer days with not much option to ventilate. Easily fixed by going out and enjoying York in the sun. We will be re booking again definitely.”

“We purchased a YO1 Middleton's afternoon tea voucher for four people. The tea was excellent, the gentleman who served us was friendly, professional and welcoming even though he was busy, it was much appreciated. The finger sandwhiches were fresh and tasty, ham and lettuce, cheese and pickle and salmon and cream cheese. The fruit scones were warm and tasty, especially when the jam and cream were added. The selection of cakes was great, macaroons, brownies and other cakes. A very nice experience as a couple or when shared with friends. Many thanks to our host/waiter for making us feel valued customers.”

It was the ideal base for exploring York’s historic streets.
