“Took the wife for breakfast and we thoroughly enjoyed the poached eggs, smoked salmon and avocado on toast, I enjoyed mines that much I ended up having another (the wife taxed me for a bite) with our pastel de nata for after washed down with an excellent coffee. It's a free for all with the seating so recommend either trying to reserve table or getting there sharp.”
“A hidden gem just outside the city! Or close by to Midlothian winter sports centre - The Secret Herb Garden is a stunning oasis with vibrant, fragrant gardens full of herbs and flowers. The on-site café and bistro are excellent—perfect for breakfast, a relaxing lunch or coffee paired with one of their amazing homemade cakes. Don’t miss the gin tasting experience—crafted with their own botanicals—and the shop, where you can buy their delicious honey (from their own hives), gin, and other local goodies. A truly magical spot for nature lovers and foodies alike!”
“Been here a few times food is great, portion sizes are amazing value for money - check the specials board the chorizo bagel & Thai green & lentil soup was top notch. Lush aesthetic inside. Great for just a coffee & cake or lunch”
“Called in for a very smooth coffee along with a delicious cinnamon bun before heading home. Excellent, friendly and efficient service. Will definitely return when we come back to Edinburgh.”
“Had poached eggs with hollandaise and smoked salmon. It seemed like a small portion but it was the perfect size for Me to not feel too full or still hungry. Cappuccino was great! Had a great balance of coffee and oat milk. Would totally recommend :)”
“Strategically located near the Edinburgh Waverley station, this cafe opens quite early and offers drinks and cakes to refresh your morning time. Plenty of seats but can be very busy after 10am. Come early if you want a more quiet atmosphere. Drinks are okay, bakery is nice. Prices are okay considerin its location, maybe targeted to travellers as well. But seems quite popular for the city dwellers to come in group or individually.”
“Lovely place with lots of outdoor seating. Dog and child friendly.”
“Love this place for a wee breakfast when passing by on my bike. Great views over the harbour and always delicious food!”

“Amazing service! The staff were very kind and welcoming. The place also had comfortable spots to sit and get some work done, which made it even better. Highly recommend this branch!”
“Dropped of relatives here as they are staying in the hotel whilst in town. We were allowed to leave their luggage as it was too soon to check in but we decided to have some lunch in the hotel restaurant. Food was fantastic, plenty and reasonably inexpensive. A lunch for 5 plus drinks was £60. Great service, fresh food, cheerful staff. Would highly recommend a visit.”
“I always come back to this place after college while waiting for my bus. The staff are always warm and friendly! The place is nice and clean as well. I haven't tried any of the food, so can't comment on that. But the drinks are always made well — my go-to is the chai latte :)”
“Called in for a quick coffee whilst doing some shopping. It was clean and tidy. The service was prompt and the staff friendly.”
“Amazing coffee and sometimes amazing staff , but there are 2 in particular that are arrogant to the and they don’t even give you a wee smile. And just look at you like you have done something wrong by coming into the shop. Everyone else who I have met has been fantastic and the doing such a good job 5* to all of them.”
“Very popular but they move things along fast and there's plenty of free parking.”
“Great place to stop for a break. The coffee was very good, and the cake was delicious. We sat outside with our dogs, which was perfect. The inside isn’t dog-friendly, but the outdoor seating is great if you have pets. The staff were very friendly and welcoming—the man who served us had a big smile, which made the visit even nicer. Highly recommended if you’re near Holyrood Palace!”
“Super glad this cafe has opened again under new management. Place looked clean and brighter. Staff were friendly and accommodating. I got a full English for £5.50, which was very reasonable and the coffee was a great tasting coffee of high quality. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and will be returning.”

“Worst Nero experience ever. Service was fast and friendly, however during the lack of staff place was unclean. The worst was unclean chair in the corner table what was smelling so disgustingly that I simply couldn't finish my coffee and left”
