“Hired bikes for the Day. Great fun! Nice flat track, tunnels and bridges along the way with splendid scenery. Around 15 miles there and back. What a hoot!”

“We will likely come again and recommend to others. The site has a lot of people like us who live in Sheffield either testing equipment or in my case just wanted to book a last minute adventure with minimum travel. Kids loved it, making some holiday friends. Showers warm and clean but the type you have to keep pushing to turn on again. Toilets clean with loo roll. They described it as busy but never had to wait for any facilities. Pot washing had clothes and washing up liquid which was amazing as I hadn't packed them. Clean water tap worked well. Paying was slightly awkward, you go to the farm house and lots of 'beware of the dog' made me nervous, what if I wasn't meant to go there. Fair price £7 per adult and £3.50 per child.”

“Perfect environment to spend a quiet night away from the fireworks with our dog. We travelled from south Manchester and it was well worth it. The staff made us very welcome and the food was amazing Thank you”

“A superb campsite, for all types. Nice friendly checkin and Lovely large shower/toilet blocks and a very nice converted barn which is the bar area with a large choice of drinks. They have a games room and play areas for the kids too, something for everyone. Very quiet at night on the section I stayed in. The pitches were a good size, plenty of room for an awning on the caravan with parking next to you too.”

“We recently visited Ye Olde Bowling Green for a 'Christmas quiz evening ' with a group of friends .. The atmosphere was lovely , The service was absolutely brilliant, overall we had a fantastic evening! We will definitely be returning. What a lovely pub :)”

“We stayed at the Ye Olde Nags Head in Castleton, Peak District at the beginning of July and loved our stay here. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the room was perfect for what we needed. Lots of tea and coffee, bed was comfortable and shower facilities were good. We also had breakfast included on our stay and the food was incredible. High-quality produce, great variety to choose from and friendly staff. Located right in the heart of Castleton and they have parking included, which is a bonus. Would highly recommend!”

“Our wedding reception was held here and afterwards we stayed in one of there fabulous rooms. Larrisa and all of her lovely staff were absolutely wonderful. Polite helpful and very patient with all of our guests. Larrisa was our wedding organiser, and what a fantastic job she did. The function room looked beautiful, just as I had asked it to be and nothing was too much trouble. We had a carvery for our wedding meal and it was agreed by all of my guests, that the food was delicious. So would I recommend this venue……..YOU BET. Thank you to all involved with our day, but especially LARRISA. You are a star!”

“Fabulous pub with a delicious Sunday roast. Great service too. We'll definitely be back. The only disappointment was that when we booked the night before nobody mentioned the road closure which meant a 10 minute detour.”

“Always sound. Great staff and a decent breakfast. Not sure of the older chaps name on the bar, think he's the manager but always a warm welcome from him and good recommendations for specials etc. Big up the Gate House :)”

“A perfect spot to stay if you want something genuine, honest and friendly. Great location for walks and local attractions, breakfast is a 10 out of 10 and the pub downstairs is lovely, a proper place. Staff amazing, rooms clean and comfy and free parking on site. There's also a restaurant over the road if you fancy a change. Brilliant.”

“Booked afternoon tea for my mum as a treat for xmas. She absolutely loved it. Food service and location was great. Bit foggy the day we went, so couldnt enjoy the grounds but the tea was why we where here. Amazing thanknyou so much to all the staff.”

“Only stayed 1 night whilst passing through and got a great price for a bed in a 6 bed dorm. Rooms and facilities were very clean and the shower was nice and hot with decent pressure. By far though, the best part of the whole experience was the wonderful, friendly staff and the incredible breakfast they cooked!”

“They looked after our dogs and cat really well. not phased by our big dogs (rottie and rottie cross)and genuinely seemed to enjoy having them in their care. the cat is usually quite anxious when away from home but he's had no issues and has come home happy. cannot recommend enough. they really put my mind at ease during the drop off especially as the pups seemed to warm to them immediately”

“Dunston Lodge were great. I had to find a short term stay for my dog at the last minute due to a funeral. Richard and his team were able to fit my dog in and were incredibly reassuring throughout the process as it was my dogs first time staying. He showed me the kennels and areas my dog would be staying and outlined the daily routines. My dog came back pampered, healthy and happy. Lovely spot and I'll visit again!”

“What an amazing place. Came tonight as a party of 5 and was looked after brilliantly by the staff. The place was really busy but this did not hamper the service or quality. The food was amazing we all had different but particular favourites were the lamb shank shepherds pie and mixed grill. The chef (Kris) does and amazing meal and his gravy is superb! A must visit for a very reasonably priced high quality pub dining experience.”

“Booked a table as we were visiting Chatsworth House. The location was great only a few minutes away. The pub was great. A typical Yorkshire pub with the added advantage of a full restaurant. The staff were very friendly and the food was great. Plenty of parking. Would certainly visit again.”

“When we set a date to get married the 1st venue we booked to view was the holiday inn, when we arrived we just knew it was the venue for us, so without hesitation we booked, that was 80 weeks ago. We have just had our special day on Saturday, and what a day it was. From the initial booking to the day, noting was too much trouble, Olivia was very attentive, responded to all of our questions and helped us get everything organised so our day would go without issue. It was the most amazing day. All of the staff where amazing, Olivia and Richard made sure everything ran smoothly, nothing was too much trouble for either of them or any of the staff. Even our guests said how lovely and friendly each and every staff member was. They all played their part and made sure our day went as smooth as possible and without any issues. If there was one, we didnt know about it. Thank you all again for making our day as special and amazing as it was. We would recommend this venue and the amazing team in a heartbeat. “The other day we drive through the Maypole and we had a coffee there. The staff wad very welcoming and they didn't even changed us for the coffee since it was free for all the month of December. We will definitely come back. Very beautiful place.”

“The staff here are fantastic. After a rather trying journey up from Kent Jess and James were so friendly and helpful when we arrived. All other staff were great and there was a lovely atmosphere. Very easy to park in the car park and get to the hotel. Cheap parking too!”
