“Let me start off the with room. The room was great, incredibly comfortable and had everything I needed in it, only thing it did have was wifi but that wasn’t much of an issue for me. Next to the staff, there was one woman, a rather kind, funny and helpful woman, who made me feel like I was welcomed into the arms of the hotel. I first spoke to her when she was running the bar (wonderful selection of drinks), we chatted for ages, this made me feel like I was welcomed, she even rang me when I left my wallet at the bar to let me know (not everybody would do that). In the morning I went down for my breakfast and she again approached me with a smile and provided me with one the best breakfasts I’ve had in a while. The entire point of my visit was that I was going out in the town, the hotel was so close to the town centre which made getting there and getting back so much easier.”

“The Joker Boat is a great place to stay. A short walk to Albert Docks for restaurants and The Beatles museum. The boat is well stocked with everything you need and is spotlessly clean. Check in and out is easy and friendly. Its located at the yacht club and was a peaceful nights sleep in a comfortable bed. Will definitely stay again next time we are in Liverpool.”

Yes, the rooms are basic and it's not great to look at, but it's very clean and has towels/shower gel/ tea and coffee etc. The staff are helpful and friendly, and the bar/restaurant area is pristine. They serve a decent selection of drinks. We ate a pizza which was freshly made in the kitchen and tasted really good. The staff and service were good. No complaints here!”

“Been a while since I was here but have used it a few times. Prices are reasonable compared to most guest houses of similar size, rooms are kept clean and there's always a good supply of tea, coffee, milk etc as well. Good access from the M6 via the M62 link to st Helens, the route brings you to the traffic lights outside (You get there via Thatto Heath so you're just round the corner at the lights. The main car park is small, maybe a bit tight for a van, but there are a few extra spaces opposite the vehicle entrance just ask. Not sure about wheelchair access, there are no lifts, this is a former residential home so I'm sure there must be some kind of access. Dining room is on the first floor and breakfast is always plentiful with a choice of cereals for self service. The full English cooked is delicious and you actually see it being cooked through the serving hatch. There's a TV in each room and some rooms look out over the busy dual carriageway to Taylor park. There's usually a few staff around in the morning but check in etc is done by 1 lovely lass who's been there pretty much since the place opened. There are cameras all round the external sections, including the entrance and car park. I would choose Park View over the main hotel in town any day, love the place.”

“I visited Boots the Chemist at Bryn, Ashton-in-Makerfield yesterday afternoon. I wanted to return some items for a refund which I had purchased on line. I spoke with a lovely member of staff called Paris. Staff were having difficulty refunding some Advantage points back to my card, when Paris took control of the situation and contacted Customer Services for me. She obtained updated information from Customer Services about my points, addressed the points refund discrepancy, and provided me with a till print-out of my points balance. Paris was efficient, patient and kind, and her Customer Service skills were brilliant. Well done Paris! Your friendly assistance was very much appreciated. Thank you, you are a STAR!”

“Was a little apprehensive after reading the reviews. However! What a delightful surprise... I'd booked with a friend and our dogs for one night .. the room was very spacious clean and looked like it had been recently decorated with a huge bathroom. The staff were very polite and helpful . The location of the hotel is perfect within walking distance to all the bars restaurants shops and the beach. Breakfast was a buffet style with lots of hot and cold choices.
